Processing of your personal data

Respect for your privacy is a priority for the Vaisseau and the Collectivité européenne d’Alsace. Accordingly, we are committed to ensuring that all personal data processing complies with the French Data Protection Act (1978 Act, amended) and with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016, applicable on 25 May 2018, known as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

We are aware and mindful of your right to be informed about the personal data collected by our organisation. The only data to which we have access is that which you willingly communicate to us, by contacting us or filling out a form, by signing up to receive our newsletter and/or in the event of a competition or participation in our surveys. Processing is carried out in the context of data subjects’ consent, pursuant to Article 6.1.a or in the context of the performance of a contract pursuant to Article 6.1.b of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

The Vaisseau’s missions

The Vaisseau is a uniquely engaging educational venue built and managed by the Collectivité européenne d’Alsace since 2005. For its 170,000 or so visitors welcomed every year (compared with the 90,000 visitors initially anticipated), the Vaisseau is somewhere to learn about science in a refreshingly different way and to gain mainstream access to scientific and technological culture. Through the themes explored, we encourage visitors to play an active part in the debate for a clearer understanding of how the world is changing. But most of all, the Vaisseau is somewhere for you to enjoy learning more about the world around us through interaction, experimentation or collaboration.

Your data will only be used by the Vaisseau for the following limited, specific purposes:

  • Management of our customer relations and relevant communications to inform you of our products and services. We collect and use your data to inform you of new features or upcoming events for example.
  • Production of internal statistics so that we can understand your interests and preferences and/or better define the development of our activities and our communications strategy.
  • Management of our relations with participants in the competitions organised by the Vaisseau and/or in the context of registration in a workshop, course or any other event organised by the Vaisseau.

Data and categories of data subject to processing

In the context of using our website and the associated services, the Vaisseau and the Collectivité européenne d’Alsace collect personal data. This is willingly communicated by the data subjects when using the website and its services. The data collected is that which is requested in the various forms available on the website or sent out by the Vaisseau. That said, we comply with the principle of data minimisation laid down by the General Data Protection Regulation by only processing personal data that is strictly necessary for fulfilling the user’s requests.

The personal data recipients

  • The Vaisseau and the Collectivité européenne d’Alsace
  • The company VivaTicket in the context of online ticket sales
  • The service providers as regards: surveys, polls, competitions and any other events or activities organised by the Vaisseau

Storage period

The data recorded is stored for two years from the date on which the account is no longer active, before being destroyed or anonymised for statistical purposes.
